Ralph A. Mitchell, "Mitch", age 69 of Akron, Ohio, died on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at his home of natural causes.
He was born on December 4, 1946 in Ravenna, Ohio, the son of the late Marshall Mitchell and Edna "Irene" Arnold Mitchell Snyder.
Mitch graduated from Field High School and attended the Akron Bible College and Midwestern University in Michigan. He was an honorably discharged US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, being stationed on a nuclear power ship in Panama. He was retired from Goodyear Aerospace where he was an In-plant Printing Manager for 25 years. He then went on to work for 10 years at JRB Corp. as a technical writer.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Barbara J. Witter, whom he was married to for 44 years; his three daughters, Wendy (Harold, Jr.) High of Seville, Heather Mitchell of Columbus, and Alyssa (Micheal Lemus-Fletchall) Mitchell of Long Beach, CA; his grandchildren, Katie Bailey, Ryan (Jessica Blevins) Bailey, David Kennedy, and Grace Kennedy; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Cora. His wife's brothers and sisters, Fred (Vicky) Witter of Uniontown, Susan (Dr. Robert) Dargie of Titusville, FL, and James Witter of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 7 PM, where family and friends may visit from 5 PM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Safety Forces Chaplaincy Center, 150 Furnace Street, Akron, Ohio 44034.
