Ralph E. Oberholtz Jr.
Ralph passed away very peacefully on June 27, 2018 at Akron Summa Hospital with family by his side. He attended West High, worked for the Spokane Marble Co, then decided to join the US Navy to see the seas and that he did. From 1951 to 1961, he served on the ships Sabine, Amphion, Elokomin, Cacapon, and then shore duty in Bayonne, New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ralph E. Oberholtz Sr. and Alice (Smith) Oberholtz; sister, Eileen Oberholtz; baby girl Oberholtz, son, Ralph C. Oberholtz, brother in-laws, Joe McGuiness, Dale (Simmie) Simcox and Steve Schreckengost. Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou of 59 years, 2 months and 5 days; sister, Pat (Winston) Anderson, daughter Patricia "Patti" (Daniel "Dan") Abraham of Portage Lakes; granddaughters, Chelsey (Eli) Bauman of Marshallville, and Shawni (Eric Pitcher, fiancé) of Louisville; two great-grandsons, Barrett and Byron Bauman; brother in-law, Dennis (Pat) Young; sister in-laws, Dororthy McGuiness, Ida Simcox, Martha Schreckengost; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside service will be held on Friday August 10, 2018 at 1:00pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Pastor Gary Smith officiating.
