Ralph L. Shipley

Ralph Shipley, 81 passed away on February 8, 2018 following a short illness with his family by his side. He was born June 17, 1936 in Barberton, OH to Raymond and Stella Shipley and was a resident of Akron, Suffield and Tallmadge most of his life. He was a 1955 graduate of Barberton High School, and retired from the City of Akron Water Department in 1988. He was a hard working loving family man. Ralph was so proud of his sons, and all of the family. He had a great passion for antique cars, camping and traveling along with "tinkering" in the garage.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Guy and Jack. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marcia; children, James (Keri), William (Lou), Thomas (Missy) and Richard (Jeanne); seven grandchildren; Candy (Dave) Kolanski, Joseph Shipley, Jessica (Jaime) Lautzenhiser, Joshua (Alissa) Shipley, Steven Shipley, Heather (Joe) Shaw, Meagan (Monica) Shipley, Noah Stehler; along with nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends. Per Ralph's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
