Mr. Ralph Lindell Strunk, 83, peacefully passed from this life on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at his home in Atwater, Ohio. Mr. Strunk was born in Pine Knot, Kentucky, in December 1936, to Mr. Edgar Ray Strunk (b1901-d1985) and Mrs. Edith Bell Strunk (née Potter) (b1909-d1998). He was the youngest of five siblings, who preceded Mr. Strunk in death: Ms. Wanda Gertrude Strunk McCall of St. Lucie, Florida (b1927-d1989); Mr. George Thomas Strunk of Stow, Ohio (b1930-d2013); Mr. Harmon Chester Strunk of Stow, Ohio (b1932-d1998); and Mr. William Kenneth Strunk of Keen Mountain, Virginia (b1934-d1997). In November 1958, Mr. Strunk wed his life's true love, Mrs. Deloris Jean Strunk (née Belcher) of Harmon, Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Strunk had a 61-year, 8-month honeymoon during their life's journey. Along that journey, Mr. and Mrs. Strunk raised four lovely daughters: Mrs. Linda (Candy) Jean Strunk Howell of Mauldin, South Carolina; Mrs. Virginia (Ginger) Sue Strunk Massa of Atwater, Ohio; Ms. Mary Jo Furr of Beloit, Ohio; and Mrs. Martha Ann Strunk Chappell of Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Candy preceded her father in death in March 2001 and is interred in Greenville, South Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Strunk were blessed with and greatly loved by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Following Mr. Strunk's 1955 graduation from Garden High School, Oakwood, Virginia, he answered his country's call to duty and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During Mr. Strunk's service as a Marine, he was assigned as a machine gunner as his primary specialty; his dedication to duty allowed Mr. Strunk to achieve the permanent rank of Corporal, while being awarded twice the Good Conduct Medal. Corporal Strunk served in various assignments in San Juan, Puerto Rico; Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; and Quantico, Virginia. Corporal Strunk was honorably discharged from active duty service in July 1959. After a short stint in Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Strunk moved to Akron, Ohio, in 1959, where Mr. Strunk began working at Consolidated Pipe in Akron. Nine years later, he transitioned to a new job with Lynwood Pole Building in Akron. After two years, Mr. Strunk made a final career change to Betsy Ross Foods, where he worked for 15 years and his way to loading dock supervisor. During his tenure, Betsy Ross Foods changed ownership to Peter J. Schmidt Warehouse. He retired from the warehouse in 1985. Mr. Strunk will rest in peace at Hillside Cemetery, Mogadore, Ohio. A private homegoing service is scheduled for 12 pm, on Friday, July 10, 2020, at First Freedom Baptist Church, Kent, Ohio.
