Ray B. Summers, Jr., age 62, born September 3, 1949, passed away Saturday August 11, 2012 in South Daytona Beach, with his wife by his side. Ray was preceded in death by parents, Alva and Ray Summers; sister, Jeannie Powell; brother, Larry D. Summers. Ray is survived by his wife, Pat Summers; children, Ray, Melissa, Michele, Trisha, and stepchildren, Chrissy and Joey; and several grandchildren. Ray also leaves behind brothers, John and Gary; sisters, Linda Pierce, Carol Sue (William) Derosier, Michele (Terry) Urdiales; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of friends including special friend, Billy-Blue. Ray served in the Vietnam War where he was honored with several medals and awards including numerous Purple Hearts. Most recently Ray was honored with the Presidential Award. Please come and help us honor our brother, father, uncle, and Hero on his final journey from this earth to Heaven. Family and friends may call on Friday, August 17 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park with military honors provided by American Legion Post 449. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ray's family.
