Ray L. James, 84, passed away on January 4, 2017. A longtime resident of Akron, he was born on April 8, 1932 in Frametown, WV. Ray proudly served his country during the Korean War as a US Army veteran. He had a passion for baseball managing little league teams, watching NASCAR, and retired after many years as a masonry contractor.
Ray has rejoined his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy, and is survived by daughter, Nellie (Jim) Spindler; sons, Ray (Eileen) James, Richard James, Bobby (DeeDee) James, Mark (Laurie) James; grandchildren, Molly (Matt) Spindler, Melissa (Dakota) Jarvis, Melinda (Brian) Flohr, Tiffany (Greg) Eichler, Tonya Charles, Shawn (Stephanie) James, Billy James, Jesse James, Michelle James, David Dykes, Dara Dykes, Vanessa (Carl) Oliver, Bobby James II, Gene Lepke, Mark James Jr., Charlotte James, Savannah James, Isabelle James; great-grandchildren, Macie Jarvis, Asher, Sydney and Owen Flohr, Adam, Kelsey, Kendall and Garret Eichler, Cheyenne, Cameron and Colbie Charles, Ellie and Jase James, Kohler James, Kaylie Dykes, Emily and Aden Dykes, Mason and Trevor Oliver; sister, Grace Lingelbach; brothers, John (Fay) James and Donnie (Donna) Woods.
Family will welcome guests on Sunday, January 8, 2017 from 1-3 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service will take place on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 12:30 pm with visitation from 11:30-12:30 pm. Interment to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
