Ray Wade, Jr.
Ray "Pops" Wade, Jr., 85, went home to be with the Lord on May 13, 2010. Ray was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was a life member of the Army-Navy Union and the Airport VFW. He retired from PPG Industries after 48 years of service, and attended the Barberton Church of God. Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Helen; parents, Ray and Mable Wade; brothers, Arthur Wade, and Cecil Wade; and sisters, Virginia Craft, Edith Hay, and Mary Stadler. He is survived by his children, Terry (Carol) Wade, Yvonne (Dallas) Vasquez, Alva (Christine) Wade, Annette (Jim) Critchfield, and Jeff Wade; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A special thank you to the Akron City Hospital Acute Palliative Care Unit nurses and staff. A visitation will be held Monday, May 17, from 4 to 7 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, with a service to follow immediately at 7 pm with Pastor Charles Erbe II officiating. The Army-Navy Honor Squad will provide military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barberton Church of God.
