Raymond A. Rasmussen, 88, formerly of Clearwater Beach, Florida, passed away January 11, 2011. He was born in Akron on August 17, 1922 to the late Arthur and Bertha Rasmussen. Ray proudly served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 44 years of service. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Florida and he spent his free time building homes. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Gloria; and brother and sister-in-law, Don and Janie Rasmussen. He will be deeply missed by his children, Vicki Rasmussen (Tammi Kirkland) and Bret Johnson (Andrea Sharpe); niece, Vicky Vaughan (Bob); great-niece, Jessica Vaughan Melfi; a great-great-niece; and granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson. Special thanks to Andrea Sharpe for all the loving care she gave Ray over the past three years. Cremation has taken place and services will be private.
