Raymond L. Leidel, 86, of Akron, passed away on January 18, 2024. He was born in Barberton, Ohio on March 24, 1937 to the late Matthew and Ethel (Canterbury) Leidel. After high school, Ray joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged from service in 1958. He returned to the Akron area and began his career in automotive repair. He owned Ray's Body Shop in Kenmore for over 25 years. Ray enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found fishing at Lake Erie or the Portage Lakes.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Leidel Jr. and five siblings.
Ray is survived by his children, Brenda (Wayne) Stedman, David Leidel, and Nelson (Christi) Leidel; brother, James Leidel; sister, Lucille Reed; many other relatives and friends. He also leaves his longtime companion, Dorothy Brown and her family.
Per Ray's wishes, cremation will take place and his cremated remains will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
