Raymond Joseph Leon, 70, passed away December 30, 2023 at home surrounded by his family and friends. Born in Akron, Ohio to James and Phyllis (Hughes) Leon, he was a lifelong area resident. Ray was a U. S. Army Veteran and he retired after 30 years from Akron General Medical Center, where he worked as a Registered Nurse/Respiratory Therapist. He enjoyed traveling (especially trips to Las Vegas), watching his grandkids' sporting events, hunting (with his extensive collection of guns) on the Leon Ranch in Kentucky and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, Mike, Cletus, Jim, Paul, Mary; aunts, uncles. Ray will be sadly missed by his wife, Terry; children, Ray (Andrea) Leon, Rob (Wendi) Leon, Tina Anderson, Rich (Tonya) Leon, Ryan (Jackie) Leon; grandchildren, Sean (Courtney), Kayla (Kyle), Cameron (Haley), Alex, Alexis, Ashlyn, Ayva, Camryn, Sara, Jonathan, Marissa, Quinn, Morgan, Brayden, Wyatt, Isabella, Maria; 7 great grandchildren; brother, Pat Leon; childhood friend, Bob "Bubba" Smith.
Family and friends are invited to visit Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will take place Thursday, January 11 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Ray's name to
