Raymond M. Martz of Akron passed away peacefully on July 31 at Essex of Tallmadge at the age of 50. He is survived by his parents, Bob and Toni of Uniontown, OH; brothers, Bob (Susan) of Seville, and Mike of Akron; sister, Dawn (Norm) Ruest of Florida. He will be sadly missed by his family, aunts & uncles, cousins and godparents. Cremation has taken place per his wishes. His remains will be taken to the Grand Canyon where he worked for 4 years and was so happy there. Visitation with the family to celebrate his life on Saturday, Aug. 7, at 2:00 pm, services to follow at 4:00 pm, at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH, 44305. Memorials may be made in Raymond's name to Woodridge High School Athletic Dept., 4440 Quick Rd., Peninsula, OH, 44264 or IBH, 3445 S. Main St., OH, 44319. His family wishes to thank the staff at Summa Health Center Oncology Dept. 7th floor for their care and comfort they provided Raymond and our family. And the great staff at Essex for their gentle care and kindness to Raymond. Many thanks also to Martha, Dr. Dan, Amy and Chaplain Michael of Hospice for all the support and care.
