Raymond F Scaia

Raymond F. Scaia, 85, of Akron, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on June 6, 2018. Ray was born on May 6, 1933 in Alliance, Ohio. He was a US Air Force Veteran and worked as an electrician at Alliance Machine, from where he retired after 35 years of service.

Ray was a longtime member of the Dante Club in Alliance. He loved spending time outside, good food and wine (especially), dancing, and Cleveland sports, but above all he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Scaia; sons, Todd Scaia, and Ron Dimit; and brother, Daniel Scaia.

Ray will be deeply missed by his children, Gary (Susan) Dimit, Tom (Susie) Dimit, Steve (Sue) Scaia, Doreen (Ben) Wheeler, Linda Krepps, and Michael Scaia; grandchildren, Lisa Krepps, Dustin (Megan) Dimit, Jessica (Brian) St. Aubin, Derek (Kass) Dimit, Brandon Dimit, Vincent (Veronica) Scaia, Nicholas Scaia, Anthony Wheeler, Mitch Wheeler, and Matt Wheeler; several great-grandchildren; nieces, Lorraine (Benny) Brienza, Christine Stillwagon, and Darlene (Bob) Havlin; and devoted family friend, Shelley Wheeler.

Family and friends may call on Saturday June 9, 2018 from 4pm until the time of service at 6:30pm. Inurnment will be privately held at a later date.
