Raymond Schafer

Raymond V. Schafer, 77, of Akron, passed away Monday, December 3rd. Life resident of Akron, he was born January 18, 1924 to the late Harry and Mary Schafer. He was a retired painter for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 30 years of service. Raymond proudly served in the Army during WW ll. He is the past Commander of the Army-Navy Garrison #273 and a member of the VFW Airport post # 8975. Beside his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Jerry Ann in 2000; brothers Arthur and John; and sister, Marie Nye. He is survived by daughters, Cheryl (Dave) Bell, Susan Baker, and Marsha (Brian) Crawford; sons, Dennis (Shirley) Schafer, Donald Holzapfel, Henry (Helen) Holzapfel, David (Deloris) Holzapfel, and Dale Holzapfel, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchldren; sister Isabelle Schafer and brother, Norman (Pat) Schafer; special friend Donna McClellan. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 6th at 7:00p.m. at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Road, where family and friends may call from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday.
