Raymond "Lou" Schiele, 91, of Tallmadge, passed away with family by his side on August 26, 2018. He was born in Sharon Center, Ohio on May 17, 1927 to the late Raymond and Irene Schiele.
Lou was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army and Air Force. Lou spent his career as a dairyman. He worked on several dairy farms in Ohio, Florida, Georgia, and Maryland. He retired from Reiter Dairy where he made deliveries, cottage cheese and ice cream. He loved agriculture and could often be found reading the Farm and Dairy. Lou had many interests including wood carving, fly tying, bee keeping, and hunting. He was a past member of Kent Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, Lou was preceded in death by his brother, Ivan Schiele; sister, Dora Stidham; and grandson, Christopher Hoskins. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Irene (Ross) Schiele; children, Claudia Hoskins, Timothy (Robin) Schiele, Aaron (Jennie) Schiele, Mary (Carl) Steckel, Dorothy (Gary) Scharenbroch, and Billy (Kelly) Schiele: sister, Lavonne Wolfgang; brothers, Robert (Pat) Schiele and Kenneth (Diane) Schiele; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Many could find hidden treats in the pockets of his well worn bib overalls.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 10 to 12 followed by a 12 noon memorial service at Tallmadge Alliance Church, 1155 East Ave, Tallmadge. Lou will be privately laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Caregivers Inc. of Cuyahoga Falls or Cleveland Clinic/Akron General Hospice.
