Raymond "Ray" L. Scovern

Raymond "Ray" Leo Scovern, 82, of Rootstown, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Friday May 4, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Akron, Ohio on September 11, 1935. Ray married his wife, Lenda Scovern, on June 15, 1946, and has been married for 60 years.

Ray will be missed dearly by his wife, Lenda Scovern; son, David Scovern; daughter, Sharon (Scot) McCoy; his six grandchildren, Josselyn and Andrew Scovern, Gillian and Chase Scovern, and Nicole and Samuel McCoy; two great-grandchildren, Kenton Scovern and Zoe Killinger; and siblings, Mary Ann McLaughlin, Barbara (John) Jacobson, and James (Jill) Scovern.

Ray was preceded in death by his son Mark Scovern.

Ray worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company as a data processor for 38 years, He also worked part-time as a realtor with his wife, Lenda. He was an active member of the Deerfield Friends Church, loved spending time with his family, playing and listening to accordion music, classic cars, and being outdoors.

Friends and family are welcome to Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., to visit on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm. A funeral service will take place at Newcomer on Saturday May 12, 2018 at 12pm, with an hour of visitation prior. Interment to take place at Deerfield Cemetery, 9865 US-224, Deerfield, Ohio 44411.
