Raymond C. Williams, 68, of Akron, was born on October 12, 1953 and passed away peacefully on October 12, 2021. Raymond attended St. Vincent-St. Mary from elementary school until high school. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the US Air Force where he served as a military police officer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
Raymond was a very intelligent man who loved to read and do puzzles. He was wealth of knowledge and would have excelled on Jeopardy. He was a phenomenal chess player who also enjoyed watching westerns and military documentaries. Raymond had a passion for cooking and absolutely adored hosting family gatherings. He was a lifetime Cleveland Browns fan, as he loved football. He greatly enjoyed music and loved to tell jokes.
He was devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle who cherished spending time with his family.
Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Williams; mother, Dorothy Williams; brothers, Stephen Williams Jr., Alan Williams, and Darryl Williams; sister, Deborah Hunter; and best friend, Larry Byers.
Left to cherish Raymond's memory is Gail Gillespie; son, Raymond Gillespie; daughter, Marlo (Rodney) Gillespie; brother, Mark Williams; sister, Bernadette (Anthony) Wilson; grandchildren, Cameron Williams, Sean Pryer, Areona, Rayona, and Raymond Ellis-Williams; great-grandchildren, Nailah, Khason, Mason, and Nazir; good friend, Alex "'Bama" Carey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at Newcomer 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, on Thursday October 21, 2021 from 12pm until the time of service at 1pm. Raymond's final resting place will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
