Raymond L. Yost, 88, of Akron, passed away January 21, 2018. Raymond was born in Akron, Ohio on September 17, 1929 to the late Otto and Blanche Yost.
Ray started his career selling vacuums door-to-door, he then worked at the SOHIO Station on Manchester and Thorton Street. He worked for Brown-Graves unloading Box Cars and finally went to work for and retired from B.F. Goodrich after 37 years.
Ray served his country in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing, taking yearly trips to Canada to catch "The Big One". His favorite vacation spots were Las Vegas, Nevada and Barbados. He was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns & Indians.
In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane; and sister, Esther.
He is survived by his brother, Robert; sister, Judy; children, Lester (Eunice) Yost, Cheryl (Jim) Jones, Christine Frailly and Barry Yost; grandchildren, Mike (Suzette), Leslee , Warren, Vanessa, Nathan and Brandon (Amber); great-grandchildren, Merlayna, Markus, Carter & Dylan.
The family will be honoring Ray's wish to not have a funeral and be laid to rest near his wife Mary Jane at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron is in charge of the arrangements. Donations may be made in Raymond's name to Summa Acute Palliative Care Unit at 525 East Market Street, Akron, OH 44304.
