Rebecca Jean Morris (nee Van Tuyl), beloved mother and grandmother, 75, of Akron, Ohio, passed comfortably in the early hours of June 15th, 2024, in her home with loving family by her side.
She was born to the late Mervin and Dorothy Van Tuyl on January 9th, 1949, in Parsons, Kansas, later moving to Akron, Ohio. Rebecca graduated from East High School and later earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Community Service Technology, graduating with high distinction from The University of Akron on August 19th, 1995.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy; children, Eddie, Edie and Alex; and grandchildren, Jeffrey, Curtis, Dale, Eddie, Rachele, Autumn and Echo.
Rebecca's tenacious pursuit of higher education while also being a single mother allowed her to lift her family out of poverty. She devoted her life's work to helping those struggling with mental illness transition to more independent, productive and peaceful lives. She used her spare time to study history, genealogy and home design. More than anything, Rebecca adored her many grandchildren.
She will be missed.
