Rev. Harold W. May, Jr.
Rev. Harold W. May, Jr., a tremendous man of faith met his Lord and Savior Thursday morning at his home. He was born in Newark, Ohio on April 11, 1919. In his early life, he was employed by the Engineering Department of Ford Motor Co. He was a veteran of WWII and served his country as a radio operator in the 95th Squadron of the 440th Troop Carrier Group based in Exeter, England and Orleans, France. After receiving his theological training, he traveled as an evangelist throughout the U.S. and Canada. He pastored churches in Nebraska, S. Dakota, N. Dakota, Michigan and Ohio. He completed 62 years of ministry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sable Aileen; parents, Rev. & Mrs. H. W. May, Sr.; brother, Rev. Norbert May; sisters, Phyllis & Jean. Rev. May is survived by his daughter, Faythe Ann (Frank) Borrelli; son, George May; grandchildren, Doug Borrelli, Amy Cummings, Julie Alchier and Joni Ramos; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kannon, Kade Borelli, Emily, Dominic, Alexis Cummings, Jordan May and Elise Ramos. Calling hours will be Monday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron and Tuesday from 10 – 11 a.m. at Springfield Assembly of God, 1551 Canton Rd., Akron where services will begin at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday with Pastors Joe Serbin, Charles Young and Brenda Young officiating.
