Richard W. Dove, "Dick", age 88 , went to his eternal home, May 28, 2016, knowing because of his faith in Christ Jesus he is "Absent from the body, present with the Lord."
He was born on December 3, 1927, in Akron, the son of the late Alonzo and Myrtle Rasp Dove. Dick graduated from Springfield High School in 1946 and then married his best friend on June 6, 1948, the former Minnie Lois Wilson. They would have celebrated 68 years.
Dick retired from Goodyear in 1983 as a top ten supervisor. He and Lois began camping from a pop-up, to campers, and finally graduating to a motor home, spending their winters in Myrtle Beach and Florida. Vacationing with his family was always an adventure; once they bought a trailer, dubbed it "Little Amy", and hauled it with the station wagon all the way to California.
Dick was always active in church, serving as Associate Minister, and teaching. When the children were younger, the family traveled from church to church as a Gospel singing group, "The Warren-Aires." they even had a daily 15 minute slot on WTOF Canton.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Dove, and sister Pauline Huff.
Other than his wife, Richard is survived by his children, Marsha (Wayne) Warren, Amy (Donald) Kaufman, and Richard A. "Rick" (Lottie) Dove, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. His sister, Bonnie (Wayne) LaFollette also survives.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, where Pastor Steve Bucy will celebrate Dick's life. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 AM until the time of the service.
Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park in Akron.
