Richard (Richie) V. Erickson III, 43, departed this world and gained his wings on November 27, 2022, after a short illness.
Richard was born to Judith Magrell (Anderson) and Richard Erickson Jr. in Barberton, Ohio on May 25, 1979. Richard attended schooling at Akron Public Schools, attending Garfield High School as an adolescent. Soon after high school Richard married and became a devoted husband and father. Richard worked for Sentry Fence, Inc. where he was a dedicated employee for over 20 years.
Richard was a fun-loving and free spirit with a great sense of humor. Always the life of the party and ready for a good time, Richie had a bigger-than-life personality and could always make you laugh. He loved spending his time with his family and his daughters were his life. In his free time, he loved going boating and fishing and always enjoyed having a few cold beers.
Richard is preceded in death by his late wife, Jessica Henderson (Erickson); grandmothers, June Schreffler (Magrell) and Irene Erickson; grandfathers, Robert (Poppy) Magrell and Richard Erickson; aunts, Cheryl Magrell and Jeanine Rodgers; and uncles Gary and Dave Magrell.
Richard is survived by his mother, Judy Anderson; father, Richard Erickson Jr.(Sherri); spouse Melissa Short; daughters, Heidi Erickson, Emily Erickson, and Lilly Erickson and step-son, Caiden Short; sisters, Heather Magrell and Nicole Vergara; special uncle Brian Erickson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a slew of cousins and other family members.
The family will receive friends at Newcomer Funeral Home at 131 Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44305 on December 4, 2022, for calling hours from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. The funeral service will begin at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Judith Anderson. Immediately after the funeral service, we will gather together to honor the life of Richard Erickson III. We will have a meal and an opportunity to share stories and memories at Russell Pry Community Center, 3857 Mogadore Rd., Mogadore, Ohio 44260.
