Richard L Humm

Richard Lee Humm, 74, of Lakemore, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023. He was born on September 26, 1948 the son of the late Harold and Norma Humm. A proud, lifelong resident of Lakemore, Rick was a member of Lakemore Jaycees, and Lion's Club. A graduate of Springfield High School and a Kent State Alum; he regularly encouraged his children and grandchildren to pursue education and careers that were fulfilling. Richard retired from Summa Health Systems after 14 years of dedicated service. He was very active in the Village of Lakemore, a place he dearly loved and served his community as a Mayor, Councilman, and many other things. Richard was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. As a creative person, he was passionate about woodworking and crafted many wonderful additions to his backyard where he enjoyed spending his time. He will always be remembered for his fierce love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and his loyalty to anyone he called a friend. He was loyal to many people over the years. Rick will be missed for his quick smiles and "how ya doin'?!" He'll always be respected for being the one to stand in the gap in tough situations. He leaves a big space to be filled.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn "Sue" Humm; children Tracy (Walter) Sayers, Terri Humm, and Rev. Richard "Mathew" (Rev. Charity) Humm; and grandchildren John Fast, Jordan Fast, James Fast, Sadie Humm-Hosey, Tristan "Alex" Humm, Gareth Humm, and Galahad Humm; sister Sandra (John) Hansel; niece Amy (Doug) Geiser; nephew Joel Hansel; and many friends.
Visitation will be held Friday APRIL 21st from 10:00am to 11:00am at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held at 11:00am with Rev. Mathew Humm officiating.
Interment will be held at Hillside Memorial Park.
