Richard S. Johnson

Richard S. "RJ" Johnson took his eternal flight on Saturday April 22, 2023, in Akron, Ohio. RJ was 60 years old, and was born in Akron, on Saturday March 30, 1963 to Richard and Paula Johnson. He played basketball for Garfield High and Baldwin Wallace University. RJ (a.k.a "Little Richard" to his family) was a savvy businessman, an amazing World Series Poker player, Ohio State football's #1 fan, world renowned lover of Swenson's burgers, avid fisherman like his father, legendary "horticulturist" and most importantly a "Girl Dad."

Richard spent his lifetime loving his beautiful and equally talented daughters Andrea, Sydney, and Samantha. RJ always reminded his daughters to "Always take care of yourself. People need to take better care of themselves. I reiterate that message, and I also ask that you take care of each other, as family is what you have at the end of the day."

Richard had an incredible business acumen. He was a very well-respected Regional Director for Title Max for several years.

Richard leaves behind to always love and remember him, his Father Richard (Barbara) Johnson (OH); Beloved Kelli Lavender (GA), Daughters Andrea Jones & Ernest Bracy (OH), Sydney Lavender (GA), Samantha Lavender (GA); Grandsons Izaia Bracy, James Bracy III, and Azir Bracy (OH); Sisters Denise (Darin) Adams (OH), Monalisa Johnson (TX); Uncle Anthony Johnson, Nieces and Nephews Diamond, Sierra, Darin. Cousins Mike, Victor, Tony, Tiffany, LaShawn, Jay. Extended family Charlesetta, Patrick, Roman, Ivory, Laila, and Niah; his very best friends Marion "Snoop" Heflin, Chris Taormina Curry, Arian Davis, and Nathan Poole; and a host of other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Mother Paula Johnson, Grandparents Frances & Robert "Baboo" Johnson, Great Granny Ethel Johnson, Uncle Jack Johnson and Samuel Lavender.

Richard, your smile and sense of humor will be missed, and as you said… "I've been told I'm dying, so I'll go out raising hell like how I showed up – raising hell."

Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will follow at 12 noon at the funeral home.
