Richard Lee Church, Sr., 82, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on July 31, 2010. Richard was born in Spencer, West Virginia on August 16, 1927. He was a proud World War II veteran and earned medals while serving in the Army and Navy. He retired from Firestone. Richard and his wife Josephine were natural entrepreneurs and operated many successful businesses throughout their lives. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine; parents, Johnny Lee and Lora; brothers, Roy, Earl, Henry, and Ed; sister, Ethel; and son-in-law, Timothy Arnold. He will be deeply missed by his children, Dianne Arnold, Mary McCoy, and Richard Lee Church, Jr.; brother, Bruce Church; sisters, Beulah (Clyde) Jett and Kate (Paul) Brannon; grandchildren, Christopher (Angela) Arnold, Richard (Carolyn) Arnold, Jason (Tarah) Arnold, Robert McCoy, Jaclyn (Ryan) Bauman, Richard (Ashley) Church III, and Joshua (Stephanie) Church; great-grandchildren, Francesca, Cooper, Ella Rae, Jackson, Saniah, Maria, Cruz, and Doak; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. The family would like to thank Hospice of Summa for all the care given to Richard. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 11-12 followed by a 12 noon funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
