Richard Clyde Merriner

Richard Clyde Merriner, age 83, entered into eternal life on August 14, 2021. Born October 12, 1937 in Akron, Ohio to Clyde E. and Lena V. (Gibson) Merriner, now deceased. Also preceding him in death were sister Joan Lorraine, brother James E. Merriner, both of Akron, Ohio, and daughter Pamela Ann Turpin.

He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 55 years, Margaret Louise (Yates) Merriner; daughter, Gwen Elaine (Michael) Swanson; son-in-law, David Turpin; sister, Cheryl A. (Mihai) Ivascu; brothers, Thomas L. (Pat), Charles "Buddy" (Sue), and Terry A. Merriner, all of Akron; sister-in-law, Ruth Merriner; grandchildren, Meaghan M. (Vincent) Hinkle and Joshua T. Hill, both in Oklahoma, and David R. (Katelynne) Turpin, Daniel P. (Reilly) Turpin, and Dillon H. Turpin; great-grandchildren Mila M. and Isabella A. Turpin all of Michigan; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Richard was a Christian, teaching Bible classes most of his adult life and serving as trustee and treasurer in his local Nazarene Church for many years. Most importantly, he was a faithful and loving husband and father to his and Margaret's two daughters, Gwen Elaine (Michael) Swanson (residing in Oklahoma) and Pamela Ann (David) Turpin (residing in Michigan).

He graduated Akron Central High and the University of Akron, then served in the US Army from 1961 to 1963. Retiring from New York Life Insurance Company in 1998 after 30 years in management, he then went on to serve the Lord with the skill sets he had learned and the God given gifts with which he had been entrusted.

Funeral Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron 44305 on Monday, August 23 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation prior beginning at 11:00 a.m. Richard will be laid to rest with full military honors following the services at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron 44312.
