Richard L. Mitter, age 72, our rock and our hero, went home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2023.
He was born on August 27, 1950 in Tunnelton, WV, and lived most of his life in Akron.
Richard worked for Case Farms for 22 years, then Keller Rigging and was a truck driver for Garner Trucking. He greatly enjoyed hunting with his son Richard, grandson, Nate, and several friends, going on family vacations, and spending time with his family and friends. He could often be found at the grill during our cookouts, working around the house, or tackling one of his many projects.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley (nee Donahue) Mitter; daughter, Deborah (Ripley) Mitter; son, Richard C. (April) Mitter; granddaughter, Courtney Ripley; grandsons, Nathaniel (Maddie & Sawyer) Ripley and Jarod Ripley, all of Akron; and a host of nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his father, Lyle Jack Mitter; mother, Margaret (nee Readd) Mitter; brothers Randy and Donald Mitter, and sisters Sandy Hershman and Evelyn Schoolcraft.
Richard will be deeply missed by his loving family and his many friends.
