Richard Douglas Nicholson, a man who lived life on his own terms and never missed an opportunity to make a lasting impression, peacefully took his last ride on his final voyage to Heaven on August 9, 2024 at the age of 71 surrounded by family. Born in West Virginia on March 31, 1953, he was a man of many talents and a sense of humor that was one of a kind.
Richard was a man who wore many hats throughout his working years, being a bouncer, security guard and bartender - roles that allowed him to use his strength, wit and charm to keep people on their toes. But it was at Ford Motor Company where Richard found his true calling, dedicating 31 years of hard work before retiring to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
Whether he was carving a new masterpiece out of wood, tending to the garden and yard, or simply enjoying the Florida sunshine as a proud Snowbird, he did it with a zest that was unmistakably him. He had a particular fondness for the color red, which could be seen in his favorite Harley.
Family and friends were at the heart of all he did. He leaves behind his wife, Judith Nicholson, the love of his life and partner in all adventures; as well as his sister, Sandy (Sam) Bellotte. His love lives on through his children, Richard (Judy) Nicholson, Jr., Jonathan (Rachelle) Nicholson, Tami Adkins, Samuel (Kim) Adkins and Kelly Adkins. Richard was the proud grandfather of Nicole (Joseph), Russell (Angelina), Luke, Justin, Samantha, Hannah, Nelia, Maxwell, Charles, Richard III and Harry; a great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren with one more on the way. The family looks forward to welcoming his first great-great-grandchild in just a few months. A true testament to the family foundation he built.
Richard now joins his beloved parents, Charles and Marjorie Nicholson, in Heaven, no doubt already sharing stories and laughter as they watch over the family he cherished so deeply.
While Richard's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, his spirit, laughter and love will forever be a part of the many lives he touched. He leaves behind a legacy of strength and love and a reminder to live life to the fullest.
