Richard P. Selby

Richard (Dickie) P. Selby, 65, of Akron, passed away July 3, 2013. He was born in Akron on July 8, 1947 to the late Paul and Mary Jean Selby.

Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Dick proudly and honorably served his country and was a Vietnam Veteran. Most important of all, Dick was a great man, a pleasure to meet, unselfishly giving, a true man and a friend till the end. Dick loved sports, poker, golfing with his brother Tim and friends, movies and most of all, his family. We would lose count on all the hearts he touched, all the lives he impacted and the unconditional love he gave. Heaven gained a great man; thankfully we have had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki; beloved son, Timmy; brother, Donald.
Dick is survived by his son, Richard P. Selby II; grandchildren, Katelynn and Natalie Selby; brother, Tim (Karen) Selby; sister, Lora (Jeff Williams) Selby; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Thursday, July 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
