Richard Hagan (Dick) Powell, 78, passed away May 8th surrounded by his family who loved him very much. He was born March 21, 1944 in Akron, Ohio.
He served in the United States Air Force from April 23, 1963 until April 5, 1967. He was stationed in Tripoli, Libya where he was a jet mechanic in the Vietnam War. He retired from Volvo GM in the late 1990s.
Richard was a sports fanatic, He was a die-hard Cleveland Fan. He watched sports, crime shows, and he adored Youtube videos. He loved playing poker with his brothers and 'taking all their money.'
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad Hagan and Estel Powell. The love of his life Priscilla 'Jeannie' Powell, son Micheal Powell, his grandson Steven Meck, his brother Larry (Bobby) Powell, his sister Erma Lee (Rex) Houchin, sister in law Kathy Powell, brothers in law Bud Savich, Ray and Larry Summers, great nephew Andrew Powell, mother and father in law Ray and Alva Summers.
He is survived by daughters Stephanie 'Lyn' Brown (Tony), Amanda (Allen) Vinson, son Richard Powell. Grandchildren John Shook, Heather (Dustin) Shook, Jessica Depelsmaeker, Brittany Sutherland, Amelia Powell. Great grandchildren, Hayliee, Landon, Jourdyn, Brantly, Jaxxson, Makynze, Jace, Kaysen. Sisters Jean (Lloyd) Cole, Janet Savich, Gary (Bev) Powell, Terry Powell. Brother in law John (Lavena) Summers. Sisters in law Michelle (Terry) Urdiales, Linda Pierce, Sue Desrosiers. Very special friends Madeline Dunaway and John Shook. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday (May 14, 2022) from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held at 1:00 pm.
Inurnment will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
