Richard W. Smith

Richard W. "Smitty" Smith, 74, rode to Heaven on December 13, 2020. He loved his family and being with friends. Richard enjoyed riding his motorcycle and doing poker runs for charities. He previously worked at Johnny's Towing and retired from Metro RTA after 25 years of service.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Glenna Smith, and children by marriage, Randy Bennett and Carroll Ann Claar. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Faye, brothers, Gary (Lorrie), Buzz (Dorothy) and Dan (Bobbie); sisters, Beverly, Cindy (Ed) and Malinda (Tim); sons, Scott (Lisa), Joseph (Lisa), Kim (Jacob) and Gene (Darlene); 18 grandkids; 9 great-grandkids; and fur baby, Bree.

Visitation from 4-7pm on Monday, December 21 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305. Funeral service to follow at 7pm. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273 at 12:30pm on Wednesday, December 23. Masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home and cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
