Richard S. Walters

Richard Sherwood Walters, 80, of Lake Township, passed away on September 17, 2020. He was born on April 1, 1940 and raised by parents, Milton and Ivy Walters in Cleveland, OH.
Richard taught math in the Akron area for 38 years. He was a faithful member of Maranatha Bible Church and was active in the adult bible fellowship. He enjoyed traveling, watching the Cleveland Indians, and reading mystery novels. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family, and he will be dearly missed.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Norman, Ralph, Donald and Roger; and sister, Ruth.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Joyce of 45 years; son, Brent (Leslie) Walters; daughter, Carrie (Shawn) Shannon; grandchildren, Grace, Finn, and Scout Walters, Michael, Samantha, and Ryan Shannon; and brother, Paul Walters.
A special thank you from the family to the staff at Crossroads Hospice & Palliative Care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maranatha Bible Church, 1424 Killian Rd. Akron, OH 44312.
Calling hours will be held at Maranatha Bible Church on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 from 5pm-7pm. A funeral service will be held the following morning, Wednesday, September 23 at 10am with visitation one hour prior.
