Richard I. Wieland, 74, passed away September 13, 2005. He was a life long resident of Akron and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Richard will always be remembered for his charismatic personality. He was a friend to everyone he knew. He was an accomplished artist and devoted much time to sharing his drawing and painting skills with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Marie Wieland and his wife, Betty Wieland. He is survived by his children, Wendy Ward, Mark Wieland, and Karen Wieland, all of Akron; sisters, Pat (Bill) Bragwell and Sherry Dabel; brothers, Lee (Mary) Wieland and Bob (Rowean) Wieland; grandchildren, Megan Ward, Erin Ward, Alyssa Wieland, Zachary Wieland, Seth Wieland, and Leah Talevich; great-granddaughter, Jerzi Ward. Family and friends may call TODAY from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. If desired, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
