Robert B. Meffert, Jr.
June 6, 1950 — March 17, 2016
Robert B. Meffert, Jr., age 65 of Uniontown, Ohio, died on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 2:15 PM at Akron City Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Akron, the son of the late Robert B. and Shirley Moran Meffert, Sr.
Robert was a 1968 East High School graduate. Robert was a proud US Army Vietnam Veteran. He then went to work for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier and trainer and he retired on Oct. 31, 2011 after 30 years of service. He enjoyed coaching baseball and softball at Firestone Park for his children. Robert liked antiques, his St. Bernards, but most of all loved his family.
Robert was a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and never met a stranger.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce of 42 years; his children, Robert of Uniontown, and Autumn of Akron; two grandchildren, Nathan Meffert and Devin Robinson; his siblings, Gayle Meffert of Springfield, twin brother, Patrick (Susan) Meffert of Akron, Curtis (Laura) Meffert of Uniontown; his wife's siblings, Tammy (Alvie) Shutts of Akron, Cheri (Kevin) Keese of Akron; and many nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents, Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Jeffrey Meffert.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio where there will be a gathering of family and friends from 5:00 PM until the time of the service.
Robert will be buried in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio at a later date.
