Robert B. Thompson, 79, passed away August 30, 2009. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey A.; parents, James and Jane; brothers, John, Thomas, James, Orie, Harry, Marvin and Norman; and sister, Alberta. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nellie; daughter, Debra (Daniel) Jernigan; sons, Robert and Mark (Rachelle) Thompson; grandchildren, Jessica (Edward Clayton) and Rachel Jernigan, Andrew and Alan Thompson, and Daniel Pugh; great-granddaughter, Frances Jernigan Clayton; brother, Clarence (Gail); sisters, Doris Clark, Dolores (Jerry) Tomasik and Irene (John) Stouffer; sisters-in-law, Millie and Velma Thompson; and many nieces and nephews. Bob retired from Goodyear's Tech Center in 1992, and for the last 45 years operated Bob's Magic Carpet. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. at Glendale Cemetery with Rev. Fleary Spurlock officiating.
