Robert L. Bell, 81, of Munroe Falls, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, October 20th, 2024.
Robert, known by most people as Bob, was born to Carlton and Anna Bell, on April 15th, 1943 in Akron, Ohio.
Bob attended Akron Garfield High School, where he was a natural talent in the sports of track and cross country. Upon graduating in 1961, he began his secondary education at the University of Akron. As a freshman he lettered in cross country, and for the next 4 years was an integral part of the very talented University of Akron cross country team. After graduating college, he enrolled at Wayne State University, where he earned a masters degree in Social work. Upon completing his degree, Bob voluntarily enlisted in the United States Army, in which he was paratrooper medic in the 82nd Airborne Division. After getting married and starting a family, he spent the next 40 years as a therapist, helping thousands of families, focusing on those with mental disorders, substance abuse struggles and the plight of disadvantage children.
Bob's sense of humor, kind demeanor and compassionate and empathetic approach to all, as well as his unique loving spirit, is carried on by the love of his life, Elena, his son Steven Bell, countless friends and his 3 loving grandchildren, Jose Wright and Lydia and Rosalie Bell. Preceding him in peace were his father Carlton, mother Anna Bell, Uncles George and Pete Krisan and beloved son, Andrew Scott Bell.
Beyond his job as a therapist, and being a loving son, father, grandfather and husband, Bob never lost his love for learning and embarking on new adventures. In addition to being capable of demonstrating proficiency in virtually every skilled trade, he also was an exceptional sky diver, marksman, outdoorsman, and avid canoeing enthusiast. Additionally, he was an accomplished juggler, magician and ventriloquist.
Bob grew up attending St John's Lutheran church in Akron, where he also enjoyed services with his family. Bob's talents, Christian World View and unshakable determination and morals were instilled in people who knew him, and had a lifelong impact on his sons, Andy and Steven. Bob introduced his children to countless activities, clubs, sports and unique talents. His family was truly always on his mind and he continuously enriched his friends and family.
In 2016, Bob married his loving wife, Elena, with whom he enjoyed a wonderful life. Elena truly made him feel complete, and was an amazing, devoted and loving wife.
Bob will be missed tremendously by family and friends, but his legacy will live on through all whom were impacted by his life accomplishments, talents, unique viewpoints, unparalleled sense of humor and the incredible impression he left on all whom knew him.
Bob will be interned at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on October 30th, 2024, in a private ceremony for family and friends. Robert will be undescribably missed by his family and friends. RIP Robert Bell.
