Robert (Bob) Blankenship, 84, of Mogadore, passed away on February 26, 2022. He was born in Grafton, West Virginia on January 24, 1938 to the late Jack and Helen Blankenship. Bob left high school early to join the U.S. Marine Corps. After his service, he met Jeanne Studer and they were married six weeks later. They were happily married for 64 years until her passing on February 20, 2022. Together they raised four children and were blessed with six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Bob retired from the City of Akron Highway Maintenance Department after over 30 years of service. After retiring, Bob and Jeanne took several special trips traveling around the country. He also spent several years as the starter at Rose's Run Country Club, where he made many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother and beloved wife. He is survived by his children, Doug (Lynn) Blankenship, Colleen (Mark) Evanoff, Kristine (Randy) Moye, and David Blankenship; sister, Barbara Fincher; grandchildren, Mark Blankenship, Teri Blankenship, Bobby (Danielle) DeCastro, Jennifer (Michael) DeCastro, Anthony DeCastro, and Jacob (Hannah) Moye; great-grandchildren, Shayla, Chloe, Violet, Dylan, and Betty.
Visitation will be held at Wedgewood United Methodist Church, 2350 Wedgewood Dr, Akron, on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 12 noon to 1 p.m., immediately followed by a 1 p.m. funeral service at the church with Pastor Joe Burkhardt officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
