Robert E. Collins, 63, of Akron, passed away December 22, 2010 at Akron City Hospital. He was born June 10, 1947 in Akron, Ohio to the late Eugene C. & Janet E. (Petty) Collins. Robert was known as an avid Steelers fan, outgoing, hardworking and a jokester. He was always there for his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Emma Dray. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Oplinger; grandchildren, John Sebe and Jessica Wolfe; great-grandson, Justin Wolfe; sister, Faye; brothers, Richard (Jerry) Collins, Gene (Terry) Collins and Homer Crites; numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 - 7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
