Robert "Bob" Howard Frock, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on February 22, 2024.
Bob was born on September 11, 1935 in Springfield Township, Ohio to parents Edgar and Ethel Frock, who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded by brothers Clifford, Kenneth and Dallas Frock; sister, Evelyn Simich; his wife of 65 years, Maxine Frock and daughter, Darla Ebie
He is survived by daughter Deanna Frock; grandchildren, Max and Cassie Brown; son-in-law Ryan Brown; sister Marie (Larry) Hendershot and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
Bob was an Army veteran, having been stationed in Alaska: 60+ year member of the Yusef Khan Grotto, Akron Masonic Temple and attended Park United Methodist Church.
Born into a farming family, he carried his love of farming and tractors throughout his life. Not only was Bob a competitive tractor puller with the "Disturbin' Turbine* but he once held the office of President of the Ohio State Tractor Pullers and helped his daughter, Darla, when she competed as the "Wild Child" for a number of years. During his life, he ammased a collection of toy farming and racing memorabilia of which he was extremely proud.
Bob was a mechanic and truck driver who worked for Consolidated Freightways and Lyons TransportationLlines before establishing R H Frock Trucking, which for more than 30 years handled Star Route contracts to the Akron Post Office. He ended his career with R D Brown Trucking.
A. J. Foyt has lost one of his biggest fans with Bob's passing, as Bob was a long time racing fan as well as one-time exjibition driver and competitor, who passed that enthusiasm down to his daughters and grandchildren.
As a friend of Art Arfons, Bob was a crew member at the Salt Flats, witnessing one of the land speed record-setting runs.
Bob never knew a stranger and would talk to and try to help anyone he could with not only his mechanical skills but contract advice for other Star Route contractors at the Akron Post Office.
With a quirky sense of humor, he could make people laugh, roll their eyes or simply shake their heads.
Family and friends were a key part of Bob's life and he will be both missed and remembered by many.
