Robert B. Harlow
AKRON-Robert B. Harlow, 85, passed away July 11. 2008. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and lived in Akron most of his life. He was a member of the New Horizons Christian Church. He worked at Goodyear Aerospace for over 40 years. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a World War II Veteran with service in the 1919th Ordinance Ammunition Company Aviation. He was an 11th Generation Descendant of Richard Warren, who came over on the Mayflower in 1620. He was a member of the Western Reserve Colony of the Mayflower Society. He was also in the American Legion, Local 856 United Auto Workers, and Mogadore Lions Club. During his residence at Summit Villa, he served as the Resident Council President. He enjoyed his family, collecting hat pins, and going to Flea Markets. Preceded in death by his wife, Nell and parents, Buell and Lois Harlow. He is survived by his very dearest friend, Nylah Willey. He is also survived by his children, Roberta Dodd (Chris), Charles Harlow (Linda), Rebecca Altuz (Ramon) and Stephen Harlow (Lillian); grandchildren, Michelle and Kathleen Dodd, William (Kate), John, and Sara Harlow, Rebecca P, Elena, and Angela Altuz, Gabrielle and Celeste Harlow; brother, David Harlow (Mary); three nieces and two nephews; and stepsons, Kenny and Terrell Drake. Robert's family would like to thank the staff at Summit Villa and Akron General Medical Center, especially the ER, PCCU, PICU, 7100, and 5400. The Mogadore Lions Club will conduct a service on Tuesday at 4 p.m. followed by visitation from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., Pastor Rich Ferris officiating. Interment at Stow Cemetery with military honors provided by Mogadore VFW 8487. In lieu of flowers, donations, may be made to New Horizons Christian Church School Supply Fund or the the USO.
