Robert O. Johnson

Robert O. Johnson, 82, passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2023. Born in Lee County, Virginia to Riley and Hallie (Eldridge) Johnson, he resided in the Akron area most of his adult life. Bob retired from Ford Motor Company and served as an evangelist and minister. He enjoyed sharing the word of God, traveling, gardening, planting flowers and trees and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; second wife, Helen; siblings, Richard Johnson, J.P. Johnson, Mary Johnson, Scott (Ruby) Johnson, Marie (Delmas) Philpot, Pearl Johnson, Jack (Arlene) Johnson, Sue (Don) Deems and Anna Ruth Brothers. Bob will be sadly missed by his children, Jeff (Sally) Johnson, Rick (Sandy) Johnson, Connie (Darrell) Gray; stepchildren, Janice (Victor) Martinez, Joetta Johnson, Jerald (Sheila) Johnston, James (Susan) Johnston; siblings, Riley (Wilma) Johnson, Rose Mae (Jim) Haynes, Eileen (Charles) Clemons; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grand children, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, September 29, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The service will take place Saturday, September 30 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Sheila Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
