Robert K. Garner, 84, passed away on May 15, 2012.
He was born in Kohler, WI and was a long time resident of Stow. Robert was a member of Kent Methodist Church and the Masons. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1952 and went off to obtain his Masters of Business at Baldwin Wallace College. He enjoyed golf, reading, model railroads and watching his beloved Michigan Wolverines. He was a veteran of the US Army. Robert retired from Terex after 30 years of service.
Preceded in death by his parents, J. Floyd and Ethel Garner; parents-in-law, James and Ruth E. Jarvie; and brother-in-law, James Jarvie.
Survivors include his wife, Donna, of 60 years; sons, James (Hilary), of Colorado, and John (Margie), of Akron; daughter, Joan (James) Stroud, of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren, Michelle (Mike) Goff, Christy (Jay) Fruedeman, Lori Turner, Shawna (Brian) Hellems and Maddi Stroud; 16 great-grandchildren; life-long friend, Otto Strausburger, of Chicago. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at Akron City Hospital.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Summa, PO Box 2090, Akron, OH 44398-6153.
