Robert L. "Bob" Holmes
Robert L. "Bob" Holmes, 80, passed away on July 6, 2008. He was born on March 9, 1928 to the late Charles and Mary Holmes. Bob served with the US Army from 1947 to 1949. He had spent his lifetime working in the trucking industry for the following companies: First Federal Trucking Co., Associated Transport, Motorfreight Express, Amvets, and Goodwill. Bob loved country music and working in his yard, which he received a beautification award for in 2007. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers John and Charles Holmes; and sister Eileen Timms. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, with whom he would have celebrated 36 years of marriage on July 29, 2008; daughters Mary (Russell) Thompson, Cindy (Eric) Jackson, and Christine (Shane) Brown; sons William (Janet) and Kenneth Ernsberger; sisters Norma Jean (Joe) Plante and Mary Jane (Ron) Waugh; 6 grandchildren; and his loving pets Yorkie, Soprano, and Lucky. Calling hours will be Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m.
