Robert A. Longbottom

Robert Arnold Longbottom, 85, of Suffield Township passed away on September 22nd, 2023.

He was born January 13, 1938 to the late Howard and Ethel (Snyder) Longbottom. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce (Pinto) Longbottom.

Robert is survived by his loving children, Cheryl Hedges and Gary Longbottom; the former wife and mother of his children, Marilyn Weaver; grandchildren, Kristin (Ricky) Bochert, Troy Stricker, Evan Stricker, Liane (Dan) Sehrt, Brian (Lindsay) Longbottom; great granddaughters, Adaline and Payton Sehrt, Brooklynn Longbottom; and special friend of the family, Raine Kale.

Robert was a 6 year Marine reservist. He worked for Goodyear as the Industrial Fire Chief and retired as the Manager of Corporate Fire Protection after 40 years. Bob was also a Portage County Deputy Sheriff, part time for 20 years, and the Assistant Fire Chief of the Suffield Fire Department for many years.
He was a Freemason for over 60 years and officer and key player in establishing the Suffield Historical Society.

He was a member of the Suffield United Church of Christ for many years and just recently joined the Evermore Church in Hartville.

He enjoyed his family, genealogy, and butter pecan ice cream. He will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 12pm. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
