Robert M. Glunt, of Mogadore, born in Altoona, PA, passed away at age 84 on December 30, 2011, in Akron, OH. Robert will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his distinguished career in education, having influenced many in the classroom, from the principal's office, and as a referee and coach. He earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Lock Haven State Teachers College and the University of Akron, and held several lifetime memberships in professional educational associations. He served his country in the US Navy from January 1945 to July 1946 and his community as a volunteer at the Haven of Rest Ministries and president emeritus of the Mogadore Board of Education. Even in retirement, his devotion to public service continued through employment with the City of Akron in the Planning Department Housing Division. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Reta S. Glunt; and three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Ora June Glunt (nee Walter); his children, Diane (Mark) Christoff, of Savannah, GA, Cheryl, of Cleveland, and Cynthia (John) Bailie, of Bay Village, OH; his grandchildren, Heather (Peter) Mytych, Evan and Paloma Christoff and Frederick Bailie; and his great-grandchildren, R. Tyler and Kaitlyn Mytych. Robert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who guided his family in love and faith. They will miss him terribly and look forward to the day they can join him in eternity. A private memorial service will be held by the family.
