Robert Emerson Minne, Sr.
Robert Emerson Minne, Sr., 80, of Akron, died on January 31, 2005 at the Hospice Care Center. He was born November 25, 1924 in Lyons, New York and moved to the Akron area in 1935. Robert attended Perkins Elementary School and West High School. He left West High School early and entered the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific area with the 147th Infantry Regiment earning a Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, Bronze Star and other medals. Robert left the service in 1946 and returned to Akron. He was employed by Infant - Di - Dee Service for 34 years before retiring in 1980. Robert was an avid golfer and bowler and was proud of his 3 holes-in-one and one 300 game. He was a life member of DAV Post 35, Paradise Lake Country Club and a member of the Independent Order of Foresters. Preceded in death by his son, Michael; brother, Marcello; sister, Violet; and his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marie; step-son and best friend, Dan (Sue) Stertzbach; grandchildren, Chad and Ashley; son, Robert, Jr. (Nancy); daughters, Sandra and Patricia in Florida; and many grandchildren. Thanks to special friends, Tom and Nedra, Bill and Cheryl, Vince and Marty (Chloe). There will be no calling hours. All services were private. Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron OH 44333.
