Robert H. Moyer

Robert (Bob) Moyer, age 90, of Medina, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024 after a long and fulfilling life.

Born November 2, 1933 in Youngstown, Ohio to Vesta and Tom Moyer, Bob graduated from Youngstown State University, and served honorably in the Army. Bob worked for both Goodyear and Firestone before retiring and moving to the consulting world. He was a magician and story teller and filled many lives with his wit and charm.

Bob’s life was grounded with a quiet faith in Christ and his caring for others. He had a keen desire to learn new things such as wine-making, macramé, stained glass, building kit-cars, painting and karate. He was always striving to find the next thing to make his life more enriched. He taught his children and grandchildren the importance of family and our monthly family dinners were filled with laughter and games.

He is survived by his wife Norma, his children Allison Capella of Concord, Tom & Becky Moyer of Akron, and John & Jennifer Moyer of Stow, his brother Jim & Carlyn Moyer of St. Augustine, FL and brother-in-law David & Carmen Maly of Medina. Also surviving Bob are his treasured grandchildren, Brian and Benjamin, Micah and Matthew, Suzanna & Brian Thiese and Julianna, great grandchildren Otto and soon to be born Inez. He also leaves his former son-in-law Bob Capella of Painesville, furry friends Ozzy and Sparky and a great group of nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Vesta and Tom, his first wife Judy, and his sister Gayle Maly.

A special thank you to Tina, his caregiver who lovingly made Dad’s last years very special, and to Autumnwood in Rittman and Southern Care Hospice for their attention and care for Bob. 

At any rate (a favorite phrase of his), visitation will be held Saturday, September 14th from 1pm to 3pm with memorial service following at Newcomer Funeral Home at 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron. Donations can be made in Bob’s memory to One of a Kind Pet Rescue in Fairlawn, Ohio.
