Robert M. Rider

August 15, 1952 — March 2, 2025

Robert M. Rider, 72, born in Montgomery, West Virginia, passed away March 2, 2025 of heart failure. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys (Jones) and Bobbie Rider, his sister, Linda Johnson, and brother, Richard Rose. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Rider, and his children, Tammy Gray, Tiffany Gray, Robert (Toby) Rider, Tara Rider and Tia Rider. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Alexandra, Taylor, Sydney, Autumn, Trent, Zander, Anthony (A.J.), Onika, Robert (R.J.), Dani and Zoe; and brother Edward Rider. He also had three furr baby grandchildren that absolutely adored him…Louis, Sofia and Puggy.

Robert lived most of his life in the Akron area and was a proud disabled Marine veteran, retired from the Ford Assembly plant in Avon and a self proclaimed comedian. But his lifelong passion and accomplishment was music! He started playing the drums and singing in bands when he was a teenager. He spent over 12 years playing and touring with Sagecoach and 18 years with Marshall Law. He could bang on those drums with the best of ‘em!

Cremation has taken place per Robert’s request and he will be buried at the Western Reserve Military Cemetery in Rittman. There will be a celebration of life ceremony to be held at the South Akron Orioles Nest @ 2166 Manchester Road Akron, Oh 44314 on 4/6/25 from 3-5. Bring your favorite instrument and have one last jam session in honor of “Bobbie”. And as he always said “Stay groovy like a ten cent movie”.
