Robert Lamar Smith

Robert LaMar Smith, "Bert" 52, of Akron, went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2017 following a difficult battle with cancer. Bert was born on September 1, 1965 in Weston, WV and resided in Akron most of his life. Bert was a hard worker and enjoyed spending as much time with his family as he could. Until his illness, he worked at Rosa Asphalt for over 25 years. Bert was known for his love of reading and his constant chatter.

He is preceded in death by his father, LaMar Smith; grandma, Alta Holbert, many uncles, including Ted, Dan and Dennis Holbert; aunts, Sandra and Kathy; and cousin, Suzy.

Bert will be dearly missed by his mother, Peggy Reynolds; son, Garrett Smith; brother, Reggie (Amy) Smith; sister, Lisa (Kirk) Wattleworth; uncle, Jack Holbert; companion, Janet Shetrone; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighbors, Linda and Chuck.

Family and friends may call on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 1-3pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held Sunday at 3pm with Pastor Matt Stull officiating.
