Robert Vernon Turner Sr., 86, of Uniontown, OH 44685 went home to be with the Lord on Nov 7, 2022.
"Bob" was born on Sep 25, 1936 to Otis R. and Lena M. Turner in Akron Oh. He graduated from Central HS, Akron, OH and attended The University of Akron. He began working for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co at 16 and retired after 32 years of service.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 yrs, Avanelle Brown Turner, children: Robert V. Jr (Julie), Sheryl L. (Richard) Culp grandchildren: Robert J.Turner, Ryan F. Turner, David A.(Megan) Culp, Michelle C.(Thomas) Schwartzhoff, Evan Boucher
great grandchildren: Isaiah Turner, Anthony Turner, Jillian Culp, Harrison Culp, Gwendolyn Culp, Owen Schwartzhoff
And numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
For many years he was an active member of The Akron Baptist Temple, Akron, OH and Ebenezer Baptist Church in Falkville, AL.
He was a talented musician, playing piano, guitar, and for most of his life played drums professionally with many bands.
A avid outdoorsman and environmentalist, he and Avanelle spent many wonderful years together traveling and camping all around the USA.
He was active as a leader for many years with The Boy Scouts of America.
He also loved animals, and a beloved dog or two was always nearby.
For many years after retirement, he drove tour busses for Goodtime Travel Co. and school busses for the Morgan Co. schools located in Alabama.
He was always with a smile, a kind word, and loved his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Donations may be made to the Animal Protective League in his honor as an alternative to flowers.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held at 11:00AM with Pastor Bruce Rosa officiating.
Interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
