Robert Davis Urbach "Derb"
Derb was born July 6, 1926 in Granger, OH and passed away July 17, 2008 at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Daisy Urbach; his brother Lester Urbach; brother-in-law, Ace Wilhelm; and his granddaughter Kimberly Sherrill. He is survived by his wife, Wynona "Winnie" Urbach; daughter Alice (William) Sherrill; sons Mark (Rose) Urbach and Tim (Kim) Urbach; grandchildren Michael Sherrill, Paula Hart, Sandy Urbach, Hannah Urbach; and one great-grandson Vladamyr Hart. Bob grew up in Granger, and moved to Ellet in 1942, graduating from Ellet High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Barnett from 1944-1946. He returned home from the service and married Wynona Casteel in 1948. He attended trade school, became a certified welder, then went on to work for Goodyear Aerospace and Fruehauf Trailer, where he retired from in 1987. Bob was an avid fisherman and an extremely well-versed handyman. There was no project too large or detail too small to tackle. The home he and Wynona constructed in 1949 without outside assistance or power tools was one of the many projects he took on. Per his request, cremation has taken place. Services will be held 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, at Lakemore United Methodist Church, Rev. Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Rd., Akron, 44312.
